Invite the Community to Shop Small

The most important step for driving traffic into your store on Small Business Saturday is to invite the community!

There are many ways to do this, so don’t just pick one option, use multiple outlets. Here are some easy, affordable ways to invite customers:

-Create social media posts and graphics reminding your followers of the deals and events happening that day. Be sure to also share your local Chamber or Main Street organization’s posts to increase engagement and reach.

-Send an email invite to your most loyal customers.

-Build a creative message for your LED sign. Alternate between your message being a countdown to Small Business Saturday and featuring a product deal.

Offer Special Promotions

There are many ways to do a special promotion on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Here are a few ideas:

-Have featured deals and products throughout the store.

-Create buzz online for the big product deal you’re offering.

-Have a large giveaway entering for all those who purchase a gift.

-Have a blanket percentage off for the entire purchase.
-Offer free gift wrapping for all purchases.

Work with the Chamber or Main Street Organization

Many Chamber of Commerce or Main Street organizations have special events and promotional materials available for Small Business Saturday.  

Work with them, bringing your own ideas and events for your store.  They’ll welcome another idea to promote one of the most important days of the year for small businesses.

Invest in Loyal Customers

The holiday season can be a great time to not only say thank you to your loyal customers, but encourage them to keep coming back.

Consider hosting a VIP event at your business, either after hours or on a special day like Small Business Saturday. Send special invites and deals to your most loyal customers.  This will entice them to come have fun at your party, boost holiday spirit and help you increase sales.
